This free program is for word processing. Remember you have to both download and install a new program. You pretty much just follow the instructions, clicking on whichever option is highlighted. I am giving you the steps as I recorded them in my notes:

  1. Go to Google and type in open office. You will get Open Office.org 2.2

  2. Left click on free download, then continue to download. Wait............it takes time.

  3. Click on Open, then OK....................wait..............it takes time.

  4. Click on Next, unpack...................wait..................it takes time.

  5. Click on Preparing to install-- Next-- I accept.

  6. Click on Next--type in a user name (whatever you want)-- complete

  7. Click on Next-- leave boxes unchecked--Next--install-- Finish. Exit that program.

  8. Look for the Open Office icon on your Desktop. That shows you have installed it.

  9. Go to Start, All Programs, find Open Office. Highlight Open Office.org Writer and drag it onto your Desktop. Then whenever you want to go to Open Office you just click on that icon to get there.

  10. Click on Open Office.org Writer icon on your Desktop.

  11. Then click on Next--Scroll down--Accept--Type your name and initials--Next--Register
